Beyond sailing: Kialoa III expands into wing foiling

From racing international regattas to sailing experiences like ocean crossings and private charters, Kialoa III has built a reputation for bringing people closer to the sea and the wind.
Today, a new activity is joining that tradition: Wing Foiling Camps.
This new project simply adds another dimension to the experience aboard Kialoa III: Another way to explore the ocean, feel the wind, and share time on the water.
Wing foiling represents one of the most exciting evolutions in modern watersports. With a wing in hand and a hydrofoil lifting the board above the water, riders glide over the waves, powered only by the wind.
A new way to play with the wind
For a yacht like Kialoa III, it feels like a natural extension.
Guests joining these camps will have the opportunity to learn or improve their wing foiling skills while experiencing life aboard a historic sailing yacht, combining sailing culture, ocean lifestyle, and modern watersports.
Ocean experience on board
This new activity will complement the yacht’s existing program of regattas, sailing experiences, and charters.
It simply adds another string to Kialoa III’s bow, offering guests yet another way to discover the ocean.
Learning from the ocean, Interview with Sil Romeijn
Hello Sil and thank you for being with us today. Can you please tell us a bit more about yourself?
I am Sil Romeijn, I am a professional wing foiler, born and raised in the Dutch Caribbean.
How have you met Kialoa III?
I met Kialoa III through captain Lelle for a while. Last year he invited me sailing with him and I did.
When did you first discover wing foiling, and what made you fall in love with it?
So, I have been windsurfing all my life, and during covid I picked up with foiling when I saw some good friends of mine riding big swells using only the foil.
What inspired you to launch this wing foiling activity and to combine it with a boat experience?
Well sailing and wing foiling together is a very good combination to my opinion because it’s very accessible to wing foil from the boat, and the boat brings you to many beautiful places where you can do so.
What can people expect when they join you for a wing foiling session?
Wing foiling session on Kialoa, people can expect us to go to very nice destinations in the Caribbean depending on the conditions, the wind and of course of the level of the group.
Wing foiling is very accessible, especially from a sailing vessel and this sailing vessel brings you to very beautiful destinations.
Who is this experience for? Beginners, experienced riders, or everyone?
This experience is for everyone! All levels, we could start from the beginning or if you are already a wing foiler yourself, you could bring your own material and we will do progression sessions, I will be coaching you. We will have many sessions in one day and we will do some sailing as well to go to nice places where we can push the wing foiling and even have accessible wing foiling places for beginners.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to try wing foiling but feels intimidated?
If you’re intimidated, that’s understandable. I would say we will start from the beginning and go step by step, take it safely. We will start with the wing and we gonna slowly build up with the foil.
And to conclude three words to describe wing foiling?
Super fun, pure freedom and relaxing! Come and sail with us on Kialoa III !
Thank you!
