With good wind pushing us along and that huge Atlantic swell beneath us, Kialoa III nailed her transatlantic trip, arriving at the sunny shores of Barbados in early December. The twelve-day sail from Cape Verde was a real workout in sailing and teamwork, ending in a great arrival. Our crew, a mix of nationalities, ages, and experience, really clicked quickly. Everyone found their groove and got comfortable on the legendary maxi yacht, making for a smooth and efficient ocean crossing.
After the awesome crossing, we spent some time sorting out necessary repairs and maintenance to keep Kialoa III in top shape. We also enjoyed some chill cruising, letting the crew check out the stunning Bajan coastline.
We’re now pumped for the start of the new Caribbean season!
It’s time to get Kialoa III back on the racecourse and let her show off the powerful performance she’s known for. For Captain Lelle and the whole team, the goal is always the same: to create unforgettable experiences for folks who share a passion for top-tier competitive sailing and real community spirit. And honestly, where better to do that than among the stunning beauty and world-class regattas of the Caribbean islands?

We even snagged a win early on! Our run in the prestigious Mount Gay Round Barbados Race was fantastic. Kialoa III took a superb first place in the Non-CSA Monohull Class, a huge shout-out to the crew’s hard work and the enduring speed of this classic racer. We celebrated the win and are excited to carry this strong momentum into the rest of our racing season.
We recently spent a week in Trinidad, successfully balancing leisure with essential maintenance. We dedicated two days to the vibrant Trinidad Carnival and five days to crucial vessel work, primarily bottom cleaning and applying fresh paint.
Right now, we’re tied up in the lovely island of Bequia, in the Grenadines. This temporary spot is letting us focus on final preparation, getting those last bits and pieces dialed in and making sure all systems are a go before we jump back into the intensity of the Caribbean racing circuit.
Spring schedule
Our next big event is the much-anticipated St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, a massive fixture on the international sailing calendar, running from March 5th to March 8th. To ensure the crew is absolutely ready, with smooth maneuvers and total race readiness for this important regatta, we’ve scheduled two full days of intensive training right before the start. We’re really looking forward to putting ourselves against some of the best yachts and sailors in the world.
Then the crew is looking forward to a busy March, as the schedule is almost completely booked with charters. Guests from all over the world are joining to experience the Caribbean’s beauty, with trips promising a mix of thrilling sailing, relaxing cruising, and opportunities to explore hidden coves, beaches, and coral reefs. The month is anticipated to be full of incredible memories and adventures in the tropical paradise. As April rapidly approaches, we are thrilled to confirm our participation in two of the Caribbean’s most prestigious sailing events in Antigua. Our competitive spirit will be fully engaged for the Antigua Race Cup, scheduled to take place from the 9th to the 12th of the month.
Following this intense regatta, we will continue the excitement by competing in the globally renowned Antigua Race Week, which runs from the 22nd right through until the 26th. We are very excited to put up a good team and have good time during these events.
Want to get out on the water in between? Kialoa is available for private charter during the time that we’re not racing. Perfect for some extra sailing or just chilling out with some island hopping in the gorgeous Caribbean!
